Cape Point Paddle, Hike, Braai - Sunday 4th August

UPDATE SATURDAY 2pm
Weather still looks fantastic. See you at Buffels Bay at 9.30am.

UPDATE FRIDAY 2pm

Well if this forecast holds, and it should, it looks to be a stunner of a day.

Although Winter may not be considered a traditional braai time,  it does offer us locals an opportunity to enjoy our beautiful surroundings without the hoards of tourists that summer brings.
And, aware that we don't really do much for the whole family we have decided that while Derek leads the paddlers off to see whales and visit the caves around Cape Point, Maragret will accompany walkers on a moderate 2 hour hike. It's a circular route that takes us along the shore line, above the caves and then through the fynbos over the ridge, back to Buffels, where we can get the fire going on one of the many braai places.

So bring your favorite braai stuff, coal and wood and let's try something a little different.

For those that want to stay on the beach the waves at Buffels are good for body boarding and there is a small sea pool there for those that want to practice their rolling, or stroke, or just chill out.

Please be aware that baboons are always around where there is food so bring a deterrent and remain alert. They also open car doors and like window washers.

Of course if the weather is bad we will postpone until the next weekend. Check this blog regularly closer to the 4th for updates.

  2. We noticed with some dismay after I had sent the email that I forgot to mention the kayak fishermen and invite you guys to join us as well - Marg and I had talked about it - so thanks for offering. We look forward to seeing you there, and accepting a bribe of a snoek or two if your lines get tight!
