Monday Evening regular paddle
Estelle is creating a regular Monday evening paddle at Zandvlei. Meet at the Yacht Club parking, to be on the water 5.30pm. This is a great opportunity for those who are still finding their sea legs to join in with some of the more experienced paddlers. It is also a chance for all of us to build up our paddling fitness, meet new people and spread the word about kayaking.

Good Idea Estelle;
ReplyDeleteI think that the vlei paddle will also give one the opputunity to do some sprint training - someting which you miss when you take part in races!

This is Margaret - Estelle says she couldn't leave a comment due to a technical problem so on her behalf I am encouraging you to join in the Monday evening paddles at the Vlei - any one who enjoys bird life will be extra glad they did.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in learning how to kayak - does anyone know if it's possible to sign up for lessons at Sandvlei please?
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Pamela
Dear Pamela and Janet
ReplyDeleteKayaking tuition is best left to instructors who are properly qualified. In Cape Town instruction for Sea Kayaking is normally arranged through the kayak vendors - either Paddlers in Simonstown (Derek)or Cape Coastal Kayaks (Arthur) in Mouille Point.
If you want to learn to Surfski then their is organised tuition through The Surfski School.Ask Margaret at Paddlers.
However if you have a Sea Kayak and just want to start basic paddling in a safe environment then feel free to join the Monday people at Zandvlei. They will give you some basic instruction.
Then get some professional instruction. It pays in the long run.
Best regards
